Theatrical performance "The Park - A silent chronicle of love in 4 seasons" with Thomas Velissaris.
The award-winning international actor and director Thomas Velissaris will present the theatrical performance "The Park" based on the principles of mime acting, movement and interaction with the audience and will take us on a journey to a park of our childhood. The show is aimed at young and old.

The Play

A lonely vagabond wanderer, living in a park somewhere in our childhood – suddenly and out of nowhere learns how time can destroy love. He does not speak to us because he has nothing to say – but he amuses us like a child who has forgotten to put away his toys. He has a magical pocket from which he reveals all the stuff one needs to re-create childhood – umbrellas, suits of armor, horses, vacuum cleaners, giant screwdrivers, and giant clocks. He stands wonderingly in front of the audience who are watching him with interest. Are you watching me? Can I have anything interesting on me?

And then one day – during summer - she enters. The tramp falls in love for the first time with his ideal version. He defends his love after battles, efforts, despair. Entertaining himself and the audience, he discovers that when one finds the ideal version of himself/herself, one must follow it – to the clouds and beyond. One must stop time and trust the utopia of co-existence.

The show

Τhe show is based on mime acting, physical comedy, gestures and an open communication with the audience. It challenges imagination among all the parties involved in this experience – space, time, audience, actor, street passing from inside and outside, neighborhood, city and the galaxy! It is like a silent film in the filming of which we witness.

Reviews

-       In the packed Theatre "Aneton" Thomas Velissaris presented, in the context of the international theater conference organized by the Department of English of AUTH on the topic of theater and the politics of viewing, the performance of "The Park" receiving one of the warmest applauses from the foreign as well as the Greek audience.

-    Like a little celebration of life without the mediations of adulthood

-Thomas Velissaris draws from the theater ontology itself, the tools of his adventure,

showing how far and how deep they can take you. His performance is simple, clean and skillful. He's not trying to impress. It keeps the measure, so that the adventure of the body and the emotions it hosts can be seen continuously, as it slides from one adventure to another. Frame by frame he sets up and unsets up a whole world that we can only see with the eyes of our (childish) imagination. With an excess of love, with tenderness and abundant talent, this gifted theater artist weaves in fifty minutes a spectacle of high aesthetics and extreme sensitivity. A show that makes us children again.

-       This renaissance harlequin brings to the movement and the mask the eternal wail and the eternal madness: clouds that rain only above the umbrella, pockets that hold everything and balloons that lift lovers…
